Time Tells a Story

My life through time

To be a Mom

The Beautiful Weight of Being a Mom

A mom will break her own heart into pieces —
then gently glue those pieces into your heart when it’s broken.

She’ll tie your hair (im)patiently,
and run back to fetch your favorite toy,
even if it makes her late.

She’ll pull feathers from her own wings,
and lovingly add them to yours —
just to make sure you can fly higher.

At the end of the longest days,
she’ll use her last bit of energy
to wipe the tears from your sad face.

A mom is the one person who always sees the beauty in you.
The one who believes you deserve the best,
and bends backward to make sure you get it.

To be a mom is to understand
that sometimes, you will have to stand alone —
against the world.

And now, I realize…

Why Cinderella’s stepmom was so cruel.
Why Mama Bear’s porridge was always cold.

Why Snow White was alone in the woods.
Why Little Red Riding Hood’s granny was so old, so grey, and so tired.

Because the days of motherhood are long…
And the years, far too short.

On many days,
a mom’s plate of food is cold
by the time she sits down to eat.

But there are silver linings.

Especially around the darkest clouds.
On the days you need to see them the most.

The price of being a mom
is found in the sound of your child’s laughter —
like water gurgling gently over smooth river stones.

It’s in the privilege of hearing that little voice say,

“Mama, I’s loves you…”

And knowing it came straight from their tiny, honest heart.

The Truth About Motherhood

I believe you only grasp the true value of a mother
the day you become one yourself.

Only then do you understand the power
behind a mother’s prayers.

Because sometimes,
the title Mom also brings
the deepest kind of hurt and pain.

But let’s be honest —
to have a mom and to be a mom
is one of the highest privileges
a person can be blessed with.
